The vintage in the vineyards of Zvonko Bogdan Winery began a few days ago.
This is one of the most important moments when one summarizes all that nature has brought to a vineyard, and a man contributed to with their knowledge, skills and hard work.
Grapes are normally harvested when it reaches full maturity, because the varietal characteristics then come to the fore the most. For the practical determination of the maturity of the grape and the moment for the vintage, the most important is the share of sugar and organic acids in grape juice and their mutual relationship. Not only has the volume of production depended on timely and successfully implemented vintage, but also the quality.
The vintage of wine grapes is carried out at one occassion, where each variety is harvested separately. In the vineyards of the Zvonko Bogdan Winery grapes are harvested exclusively by hand, and they started with Pinot Grigio, followed by Sauvignon Blanc. If these weather conditions continue, the vintage will be completed in black varieties probably sometime in mid-October. The sun has been beneficial this year, so a good vintage is expected as well.
