Terroir

The distinctive character of our wines stems from our soil, our climate, the people and the living tradition of our region. The climate and unique soil of the Palić wine region, with our vineyards spread out over 62 hectares, bring a distinctive complexity and individuality to our wines.

The vines feed from the ground which is layered, reminding us that once here lay the Pannonian sea, leaving behind a mixture of lime, clay and silicate stone in the deeper layers of soil.

Our vineyards enjoy about 2000 hours of sunshine annually, with constant light winds and considerable differences in temperature between day and night. Thanks to these features, our grapes will always ripen perfectly, retaining their freshness and complexity. In our unique terroir we
grow Merlot, Carbernet Franc, Frankovka, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Yellow Muscat.

Apart from the excellent terroir, an integral part of our wine production are the people with their priceless knowledge and experience, handed down over centuries. We are proud of our region’s traditions, where people have been growing wine and nurturing vines since ancient times, a
tradition that is interlaced with the grapevines and wines of our present time.

This exceptional area, where the Zvonko Bogdan wines are born, is unimaginable without the rich cultural traditions of Subotica and its surroundings. This part of the world lies on the crossroads of nations, customs, and foreign influences, from the Mediterranean and Asia, over the Western regions to Northern Europe. The wealth of this heritage in mirrored in our unique architecture, multicultural society, habits, languages, distinctive local cuisine as well as in the vine varieties and wine styles.

Our terroir is our passion, driving and motivating us to foster and protect this precious heritage and diversity, to convey our best interpretation of it, and ultimately, share it with you.
